Hurricane Earl passed approximately 100 miles to the southeast of Bermuda overnight. Earl, currently a category 2 hurricane with maximum 1-minute sustained winds of 100 mph, was slightly weaker on its closest pass to Bermuda, but has strengthened a bit since. Tropical storm force winds were reported in a few locations in Bermuda; L.F. Wade Airport in St. Georges reported a 1-minute wind of 36 mph with a gust of 50 mph overnight.
Given Earl's weaker left side passed over Bermuda, and the island's robust building stock, significant insured losses are not anticipated from this storm.
