As of 2:00 p.m. EDT, on Tuesday, September 24, Tropical Storm Isidore was located off the Yucatan Peninsula about 85 miles (135 km) north of Merida, Mexico and about 480 miles (770 km) south of the Louisiana Coast. Isidore has been moving toward the north at about 5 mph (8 kph). The storm is expected to speed up and turn to the north-northwest in the next 24 hours. A hurricane watch is in effect along the northern Gulf coast from Cameron LA to Pascagoula MS. A tropical storm watch is in effect from east of High Island TX to Destin FL.
Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 kph) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is expected over the next 24 hours. Tropical storm force winds extend outward to 200 miles (325 km). Minimum central pressure is currently estimated at 987 mb.
The AIR hurricane team will continue to monitor events in the area and expects to post a full range of loss estimates tomorrow.
