ALERT™ subscribers can download similar stochastic event (SSE) IDs from the Downloads tab for Typhoon Jebi, which initially made landfall in Japan’s westernmost main island of Shikoku at around 12:00 local time (03:00 UTC) on Tuesday, September 4, with 1-minute sustained wind speeds of 180 km/h (112 mph), the equivalent of a Saffir-Simpson Category 3 hurricane. Jebi made a second landfall shortly after on the main island of Honshu by the city of Kobe, 30 km west of Osaka, at about 14:00 local time (05:00 UTC). Compatible with Touchstone®, CATRADER®, and Touchstone Re™, the SSEs were selected based on event parameters (not industry losses) and should be used only for exposures in Japan.AIR is continuing to analyze this storm and will evaluate whether issuing further ALERT deliverables is warranted for Japan.
