Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, as a Category 1 storm with wind speeds of 85 mph, around 11 p.m. on August 3.

Isaias caused more than half a million households to lose electricity. Numerous structures caught fire in the vicinity of landfall; many people were trapped in their homes, prompting calls for water rescues; and some structures collapsed. The storm lashed the area with high winds and heavy rains. Ahead of landfall the area was put under curfew and thousands had been evacuated.
