Pre-Landfall 2 | Summary
Posting Date: August 1, 2020, 5:00:00 AM
As of 8 a.m. EDT on August 1, Hurricane Isaias was located at 24.3°N, 77.5°W, with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph and a central pressure of 987 mb. Isaias is moving northwest at 12 mph. According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the storm should continue to move northwestward today and begin to turn north-northwestward tomorrow. Isaias is then expected to make a north-northeastward turn and increase in forward speed.
According to the NHC, the combination of westerly vertical shear and mid-level dry air should prevent Isaias from intensifying further. Although some weakening is expected as Isaias passes near the Florida Coast, Isaias is still forecast to remain a hurricane as it does so. Hurricane Hunters are scheduled to investigate the storm later today.
ALERT™ subscribers can download similar stochastic event (SSE) IDs for Isaias from the Downloads tab. Compatible with Touchstone®, Touchstone Re™, and CATRADER®, the SSEs were selected based on event parameters (not industry losses) and should be used only for exposures in Florida.
