According to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), Typhoon Bavi made landfall 50 km southwest of Pyongyang, North Korea, on the morning of August 27, KST, closely bypassing South Korea at hurricane strength on its way. Half of the homes on the southern resort island of Jeju, South Korea, lost power Wednesday night but had it restored by Thursday morning. Hundreds of domestic and international flights on the island and the mainland city of Busan were canceled. In addition, railroad services were suspended. Coronavirus testing booths and tents in Seoul and other cities in South Korea are becoming operational again after being dismantled in anticipation of the storm. Damage to residential and commercial buildings as well as flooded roads and toppled trees have been reported from South Korea.
