According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), Typhoon Vamco made landfall twice in the Polillo islands at 10:30 p.m. Philippine Standard Time (PHST) (14:30 UTC) and at 11:20 p.m. PHST on (15:20 UTC) on November 11 with 1-minute sustained wind speeds of 149 km/h (93 mph), the equivalent of a high-end Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Scale. The storm then moved west-northwest to make landfall in General Nakar municipality on the main island of Luzon at 1:40 a.m. PHST on November 12 (17:20 UTC on November 11) also with 1-minute sustained wind speeds of 149 km/h (93 mph).
