Grace strengthened to become the first major hurricane this season in the Atlantic, a Category 3, as it made landfall at 1:00 a.m. CDT (6:00 UTC) with 1-minute sustained wind speeds of 125 mph near Tecolutla and about 30 miles southeast of Tuxpan, Mexico, on August 21.
Grace is forecast to move slightly south of west over mountainous terrain in Mexico’s interior tonight and rapidly weaken.
