Hurricane Nora scraped the Pacific Coast of Mexico this past weekend as a Category 1 hurricane. Damage was reported in the state of Jalisco, including in the city of Puerto Vallarta, where a four-story hotel collapsed, killing one person. Two rivers near the city overflowed on Saturday night following landfall, leading to the reported flooding of at least 500 homes in the area. The storm dropped as much as 12 inches of rain in some areas along Mexico’s west coast. Nora has since dissipated to a low pressure system but will continue to bring rain to northwestern Mexico over the next day or two.
