Tropical Storm Nicole is currently sitting approximately 60 miles east-northeast of Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas, with maximum 1-minute sustained winds of 70 mph and a minimum central pressure of 986 mb, per the National Hurricane Center at 7:00 am EST today. ALERT™ subscribers can download similar stochastic event (SSE) IDs for Nicole from the Downloads tab of this posting on the ALERT website. Compatible with Touchstone® and Touchstone Re™, the SSEs were selected based on Nicole’s key meteorological parameters and its current forecast. They should only be used with exposures in Florida.
The forecast remains for Nicole to reach hurricane status sometime on Wednesday, though dry air and wind shear should keep any intensification before landfall relatively limited. A Hurricane Warning is in place for The Abacos, Berry Islands, Bimini, and Grand Bahama Island in the northwestern Bahamas, and from Boca Raton to the Flagler/Volusia County Line in Florida.
If Nicole makes landfall at Hurricane strength in Florida, the Verisk ALERT team will release a final set of similar stochastic events on Thursday morning (EST).
