Hurricane Milton made landfall last night around 8:30 pm EDT near Siesta Key, FL, with estimated 1-minute sustained winds of 120 mph and a minimum central pressure of 954 mb. As of 8:00 am EDT, the center of Milton had departed Florida’s east coast. Wind gusts of 102 mph were reported in Sarasota, near landfall, with a gust of 101 mph recorded in St. Petersburg, 96 mph in Tampa, and 87 mph in Orlando. Prodigious rainfall totals led to flash flooding in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties; parts of St. Petersburg received 18 inches of rain from Milton, with 11 inches reported in Tampa and 10 inches in nearby Clearwater Beach.
