Super Typhoon Man-Yi (known as Pepito in the Philippines) made landfall late on the 16th of November local time over Catanduanes Island as a Saffir-Simpson Category 4 equivalent cyclone. Man-Yi was the fourth typhoon to impact the battered archipelago in just the last ten days. The typhoon reached Saffir-Simpson Category 5 status in the hours before landfall – the fifth storm globally to achieve this level of intensity in 2024 - but weakened just prior to reaching the Philippines. Eight people were killed in the storm, seven of them in a landslide in Nueva Ecija.
