Hurricane Imelda arrived in Bermuda overnight, lashing the island with high winds and heavy rain. Early reports appear to indicate mostly minor damage, with trees and branches down, power outages (BELCO reported 17,000 customers lost power at some point), and minor flooding. A hurricane force wind gust of 78 mph (126km/h) was reported from a weather station in Sam Hall’s Bay, but most of the island appears to have generally seen Tropical Storm force winds. As of Thursday morning, no injuries had been reported as a result of the storm.
