An M6.3 earthquake with a focal depth of 10 km, according to preliminary estimates by the USGS, struck 10.1 km west-northwest of Týrnavos and 25.1 km northwest of Larissa in Thessaly, Greece at 10:16 UTC (12:16 p.m. local time) on March 3.

Today’s temblor struck the central part of Greece and there have been reports of shaking from Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo, and Montenegro. Reports of damage to structures mainly involve cracked or collapsed walls of older homes and buildings. There are no reports of injuries as of yet.
Last October, the M7.0 Néon Karlovásion quake struck near the Greek island of Samos and the western coast of Turkey in the Aegean Sea, killing two high school students on Samos and at least 75 people in Turkey.
