According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Iota made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane along the northeastern coast of Nicaragua around 9:40 p.m. CST on November 16 (3:40 UTC on November 17) near the town of Haulover and 30 miles south of Puerto Cabezas. Iota's landfall location was about 12 nautical miles (13.8 miles) south of where Category 4 Hurricane Eta made landfall on November 3.
