Posting Date: September 28, 2022, 2:00:00 PM
Typhoon Noru made landfall on Wednesday in Vietnam, in the province of Quang Nam, near the city of Da Nang, with maximum 1-minute sustained windspeeds of about 100 mph. A rare typhoon landfall in Vietnam, Noru is expected to cause widespread flooding as well as potential landslides and mudslides. There have been no reported casualties from Noru in Vietnam as of yet.
ALERT™ subscribers can download similar stochastic event (SSE) IDs for Typhoon Noru from the Downloads tab of this posting on the ALERT website. Compatible with Touchstone® and Touchstone Re™, the SSEs were selected based on Noru’s key meteorological parameters. They should only be used with exposures in Vietnam.
While the winds weakened prior to landfall, damage reports indicate some roof and building envelope damage as well as flooding related water damage in many houses in the cities of Da Nang and Hoi An, both in the Quang Nam province. Many roads were left inaccessible due to uprooted trees as well as flood waters and landslides.
No additional ALERTs are planned for Typhoon Noru at this time.
