Tropical Storm Henri
The National Hurricane Center reported at 8 a.m. that Tropical Storm Henri was located at 33.6°N 72.7°W with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph and a central pressure of 993 mb. Henri is moving north-northwest at 12 mph.

NHC Forecast Track and Intensity
Henri should be allowed to strengthen in the next 12 hours or so. The storm is forecast to turn north-northwestward tonight, which will bring its center near or over parts of Long Island and southern New England tomorrow. Henri’s impacts are expected to extend far from its center. Henri is forecast to be at or near hurricane strength at landfall.
NHC Forecast Hazards
Dangerous storm surge inundation is expected to begin late tonight or tomorrow in portions of Long Island, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and southeastern Massachusetts, where a Storm Surge Warning has been issued. Dangerous storm surge is possible beginning late tonight or Sunday in western portions of Long Island and Connecticut in the Storm Surge Watch area.
Hurricane conditions are expected to begin late tonight or tomorrow in portions of Long Island and Connecticut, where a Hurricane Warning has been issued. Hurricane conditions are possible late tonight or Sunday across portions of Rhode Island. Heavy rainfall may lead to considerable flash, urban, and small stream flooding, along with the potential for widespread minor and isolated moderate river flooding, over portions of Long Island, New England, southeast New York and northern New Jersey.
AIR will provide an additional set of SSEs based on the latest forecast for Henri on Sunday, August 22, by 10AM EDT.
