Hurricane Dorian transitioned to a post-tropical cyclone as it made landfall in Nova Scotia, Canada, on Saturday, September 7, with maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h and a minimum central pressure of 958 mb before continuing northeastward and dissipating over the Atlantic. In Halifax, Dorian downed trees and power lines, ripped off a few roofs, and caused a crane to collapse. More than 330,000 people in Nova Scotia were without power.
ALERT™ subscribers can now download similar stochastic event (SSE) IDs for Hurricane Dorian from the Downloads tab of the ALERT website. Compatible with Touchstone®, Touchstone Re™, and CATRADER®, SSEs were selected based on event parameters (not industry losses) from AIR’s Tropical Cyclone Model for Canada’s 10K standard stochastic catalog and should be used only for exposures in Canada.
SSEs based on event parameters (not industry losses) for Hurricane Dorian’s impact on Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina were issued on Friday, September 6, and are available from the “Landfall” posting on Downloads tab of the ALERT website.
Custom event sets, loss-based similar stochastic event (SSE) IDs, and a wind shapefile for Dorian’s impact on the Caribbean were issued on Friday, September 6, and are available from the "Pre-Landfall 7" posting on the Downloads tab of the ALERT website.
