ALERT™ subscribers can download similar stochastic event (SSE) IDs for Hurricane Dorian from the Downloads tab. Dorian made landfall at 2 p.m. Eastern Time (18:00 UTC) with 1-minute sustained wind speeds of 75 mph on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, on August 28. The storm traveled north-northwest afterward, brushing past Puerto Rico while maintaining its Category 1 strength. Compatible with Touchstone®, Touchstone Re™, and CATRADER®, the SSEs were selected based on event parameters (not industry losses) and should be used only for exposures in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands.
According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) as of 5 a.m, Eastern Time, Dorian was located at 20.5°N, 66.6°W and continues to travel northwestward at 13 mph with a central pressure of 991 mb and maximum sustained wind speed of 85 mph. The NHC forecast indicates that Dorian has the potential to achieve the intensity of a major hurricane, in the next 24 to 48 hours, but it is too early to know how strong Dorian will be when it makes landfall somewhere on the east coast of Florida. Heavy rain, dangerous storm surge, and hurricane-force winds are expected to impact the Bahamas and the east coast of Florida.
