Hurricane Beryl made landfall at 3:50 a.m. CDT near Matagorda, Texas, with maximum sustained 1-minute winds of 80 mph and a minimum central pressure of 979 mb. Since landfall, the pressure has risen to 980 mb and maximum winds have dropped to 75 mph as of this writing. The storm is moving north at 12 mph.

Compatible with Touchstone® and Touchstone Re™, the SSEs were selected based on the event’s projected key meteorological parameters at landfall, in particular storm track, minimum central pressure, estimated winds, forward speed, and landfall angle. They were selected for impacts in Texas.
Hurricane conditions are continuing in the area around landfall. Brazoria County Airport reported a wind gust to 85 mph, and Palacios Municipal Airport reported a 1-minute sustained wind of 61 mph with a gust to 81 mph. Bay City Regional Airport (KBYY) reported a central pressure of 980.4 mb (28.95 mb) near the eye. A widespread 4 to 8 inches of rain is forecast over southeast Texas from Beryl, with locally higher amounts possible. Peak storm surge is expected to be 4 to 7 feet for Matagorda Bay and points immediately east and is forecast to peak at 4 to 6 feet in and around Galveston Bay. Beryl should weaken rapidly today and accelerate towards the northeast.
