ALERT™ subscribers can download pre-U.S. landfall similar stochastic event (SSE) IDs for Hurricane Beryl from the Downloads tab of this posting on the ALERT website. Compatible with Touchstone® and Touchstone Re™, the SSEs were selected based on the event’s track, minimum central pressure, estimated winds, forward speed, and landfall angle. They were selected for impacts in Texas.
Beryl is expected to start strengthening today as wind shear begins to abate. Strengthening should accelerate somewhat as the storm makes a final approach to landfall, and Beryl is still forecast to regain Hurricane status prior to reaching the Texas coast early Monday morning.
A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the Texas coast from Baffin Bay northward to San Luis Pass. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Texas coast south of Baffin Bay to the mouth of the Rio Grande River, the Texas coast north of San Luis Pass to High Island, and the northeastern coast of mainland Mexico from Barra el Mezquital to the mouth of the Rio Grande River. A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for the north entrance of the Padre Island National Seashore to High Island, including Corpus Christi Bay, Matagorda Bay, and Galveston Bay.
Assuming the official National Hurricane Center forecast continues to show a hurricane strength landfall in the U.S. on Monday, the Verisk ALERT team will issue updated similar stochastic events Monday, July 8, posting at around 10:00am EDT. In the meantime, please contact your Verisk representative with any additional questions.
